The DuPage County Forest Preserve District is overhauling its golf staff as it prepares to take control of services now privatized at the Oak Meadows course.
The forest preserve will take over food and beverage services starting Jan. 1 and golf operations when the 2005 season opens at the Addison course.
The district already runs all programs at its Green Meadows and Maple Meadows courses, in Westmont and Addison.
Commissioners on Tuesday created a new position for a food and beverage operations manager, who will be paid between $53,257 and $79,886.
They also tweaked job descriptions and increased salaries for three administrators to reflect the extra work involved with Oak Meadows. The revised jobs include: a golf course operations manager who is in charge of the grounds and will be paid between $53,257 and $79,886; a catering supervisor who will be paid between $42,645 and $63,968; and a golf operations manager who will supervise the pro shops and be paid between $53,257 and $79,886.
"We want to utilize staff to its fullest potential at all three courses instead of a manager here and a manager there," Golf Operations Director Douglas Kelly said.
Estimates indicate the forest preserve could gain between $490,000 and $637,000 by running operations at Oak Meadows.
"The additional revenue that comes in next year will definitely meet and pay for these new positions," Kelly said.
The district also has to hire a chef and a golf pro.
Golf administrators will give an update on finances next month.
