Dog keeps geese off Roseburg's Stewart Park Golf Course

Geese fear year-old blue heeler.

Bella has as special job at the Stewart Park Golf Course. It's a job that saves maintenance crews hours of unsavory work.

Her duty is simply to chase away the Canada geese that frequent the Roseburg golf course, meaning fewer obnoxious droppings to remove from the course greens. And all Bella asks in return is a treat and some words of encouragement.

The year-old blue heeler has a trait that none of her human counterparts at the golf course can emulate. The geese are actually afraid of her.

“They fear the dog, but not me,” said Rollo Ellis, the head greenskeeper at the Stewart Park Golf Course and owner of Bella, whom he's been training for the past nine months to chase away geese.
