Golf professional Greg Tavano has been named the new Associate Golf Professional at The Peninsula on the Indian River Bay, a luxury gated community featuring Delaware’s first private Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. He will be the first assistant to Director of Golf and PGA professional, Troy Flateau.
Tavano’s responsibilities will include managing guest services and tournament operations, teaching golf and supervising daily golf shop operations.
Tavano, a native New Yorker who attended the University of Maryland, began his golf career as a Pro Shop Attendant under Head PGA Golf Professional Bob Beckelman at Ocean Pines Golf & Country Club in fall 2000. Shortly thereafter, he became an Assistant Professional and was later promoted to First Assistant in the spring of 2002.
“Greg possesses an outgoing personality and is always attentive to the needs and desires of his members and their guests," says Troy Flateau, The Peninsula’s director of golf. "Over his career Tavano has taught hundreds of students through private lessons and extensive clinic programs geared for players of all ages and abilities and excels in teaching juniors and women. We are delighted to have him join the Peninsula golf team.”
The Jack Nicklaus Signature Course will open at the end of May, with the grand opening scheduled for late June with a visit by Mr. Nicklaus.
