Allen presides over the association as it engages in a concerted effort to strengthen the capacity of the 12 local associations throughout the Carolinas. The campaign includes specialized leadership training for local association officers, and two pilot programs to boost grass-roots public relations and administrative capacity. The Carolinas GCSA also will increase financial support for local association activities.

“We have enjoyed considerable success as a regional organization,” Danny Allen says. “Now we want to transfer that success as far into the field as we can. We want to make a difference for each of our members and we feel the local associations are in a great position to help make that happen.”

Billy Lewis, from Carolina National Golf Club in Supply, N.C., is new vice-president of the Carolinas GCSA, and Steve Neuliep, CGCS, from the Country Club of Asheville (N.C.), is secretary-treasurer. Mike Brown, CGCS, from Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., will remain on the board of directors for one more year as immediate past president.

Steve Hamilton, CGCS, from The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach is the sole newcomer to the 13-man board, filling the vacancy left by Bob Warner, CGCS, of Whispering Pines Golf Club, also in Myrtle Beach. Warner steps down from the board after serving in each office including the past year as past president.
