The Hills and Forrest-designed Journey at Pechanga golf course, part of Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif., opened last week. An invite-only grand opening took place on Nov. 13 and the course officially opened to the public on Nov. 14. Journey's layout, which rises and falls some 300 feet in 18 holes, features five sets of tees ranging from 4,852 yards to 7,219 yards.
The NGCOA awarded The Golf Courses at Incline Village in Lake Tahoe, Nev., with the 2009 National Golf Course Owners Association’s Player Development Award. Since 2005, the Golf Courses at Incline Village have started 10 player development programs, including a “Golf in the Schools” program in partnership with area elementary and middle school physical education departments and a “Nine and Wine” program for busy professionals that pairs nine holes of golf with a wine tasting and networking reception.

The Saint Andrew’s Golf Club in Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., celebrated its 120th anniversary on November 14. The Westchester County course is said to be home to many “firsts” in American golf, including: the first round of golf in the U.S. by Scottish sportsman John Reid and friends, hosting the first unofficial U.S. amateur and first “open” championship and being a founding member of the UGSA.
Golf Son Gual, located on the island of Mallorca, will host the Son Gual Mallorca Senior Open from May 8-10. The course, designed by three-time German Amateur Champion Thomas Himmel, opened last October and will host some of the leading players on the European Senior Tour.
