Blue Bell Country Club has recently named Todd Struse ground superintendent of the club. At Blue Bell, Struse will bring his 35-plus years of progressive experience to the club, and will oversee all facets of maintenance of the Arnold Palmer designed signature golf course.
“We’re really pleased to add Todd Struse to our managerial staff at Blue Bell,” says Bill Beisel, general manager of the club. “He brings with him a wide breadth of education, expertise and experience that will really benefit the club and its members, and I look forward to seeing his skills reflected out on the course.”
Prior to coming to Blue Bell, Struse worked as ground superintendent of LuLu Country Club, located in North Hills, for 26 years. At LuLu, he was the driving force to make possible the immaculate conditioning of the Donald Ross designed golf course.
In addition to LuLu Country Club, Struse gained valuable experience at Brookside Country Club, located in Pottstown, and Meadowlands Country Club, located in Blue Bell, where he served as superintendent and assistant superintendent, respectively.
Struse received his degree in agronomy at The Pennsylvania State University in 1977. He continues to build upon this formal education today by participating in ongoing educational seminars focusing on topics such as pesticide management and control, land management, and irrigation design. He is certified by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
In addition to his duties at Blue Bell Country Club, Struse will continue to serve as President Emeritus of the Philadelphia chapter of the GCSAA. He is also an adjunct instructor at Temple University, teaching “Introduction to Turfgrass Management.”
A graduate of Wissahickon High School, Struse resides in North Hills with his wife and has two children.
