Longhorns at NCAAs

The University of Texas women's team concluded its season last week with a tie for sixth at the NCAA Championship in Opelika, Ala. It marked the fifth consecutive year that Coach Susan Watkins' team finished sixth or better.

All-American Janice Olivencia, the only senior on the team, ended her college career with a tie for 22nd, the best showing by a UT player.

Men's coach John Fields and his team leave Saturday for the NCAA Championship in Hot Springs, Va. The eighth-ranked Longhorns qualified with a tie for fifth in last week's NCAA Central Regional.

Senior all-American Jason Hartwick has three victories and five other top-10 finishes in 13 appearances this season.

Texas tied for ninth place at last year's NCAA Championship and tied for second in the 2002 tournament.
