The par-36 East features a links-style design complete with elevation changes, undulating greens, grass bunkering and collection areas, as well as wiry fescue rough. The East course measures 3,470 yards from the back tees and 2,334 from the front.
The East Course will be paired with the North, creating a 7,157 track with a rolling terrain and an open feel. Routed through 800 acres of Maryland countryside, Compass Pointe offers golfers a variety of golf flavors, including the links-style North/East combination and the tree lined, parkland-style South/West pairing.
“The East nine is a fun and fantastic test of golf that requires players to use every club in their bag,” says Tony Cianci, BCG’s Mid-Atlantic regional operations manager. “The two distinct styles of courses at Compass Pointe promise a different experience each and every time golfers come out to play.”
Golf course architect Lindsay Ervin designed all four nines.
The courses feature bent grass from tee to green, an ample practice putting surface and a driving range with both grass and mat stations. Compass Pointe also houses a full-service pro-shop, grille and a new outdoor pavilion.
“The East nine adds to the great variety of holes that can be found at Compass Pointe,” says Compass Pointe general manager Brian Rhodes. “We accomplished exactly what we set out to achieve: two championship-caliber courses at an affordable price for area golfers.”
