Middlebury, Conn. – Crompton and Great Lakes Chemical completed an all-stock merger July 1, with the combined company becoming Chemtura Corporation.
“Our new name reinforces the fact that we are Chemtura, a unique new company with a portfolio of global businesses that have achieved leading positions in high-value market niches,” says Chemtura chairman, president and chief executive officer Robert L. Wood. “We are building a world-class organization and adopting best business practices in everything we do.
“As we said in March, this is a transformational merger. Our vision is to create the world’s best specialty chemicals company, not simply to add companies together,” he adds. “We will not be Crompton. We will not be Great Lakes. We will be the Chemtura team, focused on the future.”
“We already offer some of the best products in the turf and ornamental field in our combined product portfolio,” says Cesar Lamonega, North American business director, Chemtura Crop Protection. “Now, these products will come from Chemtura, the newest name in the industry with an expanded product portfolio to help our customers produce high value, floral, ornamental, nursery, landscape and turf products and maintenance services.”
Chemtura, with pro forma 2004 sales of $3.7 billion, is a global manufacturer and marketer of specialty chemicals, crop protection and pool, spa and home care products. Headquartered in Middlebury, Conn., the company has approximately 7,300 employees around the world. Additional information concerning Chemtura is available at www.chemtura.com.
