ClubCorp to host second annual charity event

More than 140 locations will participate in the event, which expected to generate $5 million.

ClubCorp will host the ClubCorp Charity Classic: Celebrating a Legacy, a one-day golf and dining event on Sept. 26, at clubs across the U.S. (a few dates may vary).

More than 140 golf and country clubs and business and sports clubs around the country will again open their courses and dining rooms to an estimated 25,000 members, guests and patrons for tournaments, dining events and social extravaganzas. Each ClubCorp golf course and dining room will participate in the fundraiser, with most events occurring on the same day. These member-only clubs will be open to anyone who would like to participate in golfing or dining to raise money for the three designated charities.
All proceeds raised during the ClubCorp Charity Classic will be divided and donated to the following three charities:

• The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), specifically “Augie’s Quest,” an initiative within MDA that is an aggressive, cure-driven effort singularly focused on treatments and cures for ALS, (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease).

• ClubCorp’s Employee Partners Care Foundation (E.P.C.F.), a fund created to help ClubCorp’s employees and their families by providing financial assistance in times of crisis.

• Each club’s selected charity of choice. Each ClubCorp club will designate a local or national charity of their choosing. More than 100 charities will be represented.

Last year, the ClubCorp Charity Classic raised more than $1.6 million through live auctions, dinners, golf and tennis tournaments, a variety of fitness activities and an online auction. Proceeds benefited the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Augie’s Quest, The PGA Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the E.P.C.F.

“We are excited to build on the momentum of last year’s historical event,” stated Eric Affeldt, ClubCorp’s president and CEO. “With an aggressive goal to raise more than $5 million for these important initiatives, we hope to fully engage and inspire our 200,000 members, 16,000 employees, our many sponsors, and the public community, which is invited to participate in these wonderful events. ClubCorp is excited to carry on our 50-year tradition of building relationships and enriching lives through service.”
