During the Oct. 19 event - for the first time in the company's history - ClubCorp's more than 150 private clubs opened their doors to the public for a day of fundraising events that consisted of dinners, live auctions, golf and tennis tournaments, and a variety of fitness activities. The event also included an online auction, which raised just over $64,000, that offered such items as vacation getaway packages, private chef and wine dinners, and tickets to several high-profile golf tournaments.
"For the past 50 years, ClubCorp has been in the business of building relationships and enriching lives, but never more so than this past Oct. 19,” said Eric Affeldt, ClubCorp's president and CEO. "I am so proud of our clubs, our employee partners, and our members and how they came together to provide extraordinary and unique experiences for those in their communities while also raising money for four very worthy causes.”
Proceeds raised during the ClubCorp Charity Classic will be divided and donated to the four separate charities:
The Muscular Dystrophy Association's (MDA), specifically "Augie's Quest,” an initiative within MDA that is an aggressive, cure-driven effort singularly focused on treatments and cures for ALS, (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease). Augie's Quest will receive 40 percent of the net funds.
The PGA Foundation, which provides people of every ability, race, gender, and social and economic background an opportunity to experience the game of golf and learn vital life lessons. PGA Foundation will receive 20 percent of the net funds.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all, and energize science to find the cures. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Susan G. Komen will receive 20 percent of the net funds.
ClubCorp's Employee Partners Care Foundation (EPCF), a fund created to help ClubCorp's employees and their families by providing financial assistance in times of crisis. EPCF will receive 20 percent of the net funds.
