Circling Raven achieves record day

Circling Raven Golf Club exceeded projected rounds played, merchandise sales and revenue in July.

Worley, Idaho – Circling Raven Golf Club, part of the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort and Hotel in the Idaho Panhandle, exceeded projected rounds played, merchandise sales and revenue in July.

Rounds played at Circling Raven in July 2005 were 25 percent over projections and July 30 was the single busiest day in course history. Rounds played are 12 percent over projections year-to-date. This is Circling Raven’s second full season.

Furthermore, Circling Raven exceeded monthly income in July by 39 percent over projections and overall income is up 33 percent over last season. The course is on track for a strong August and the September bookings are rapidly approaching capacity, representatives say.

“We expected lots of play and buzz last season since it was Circling Raven’s first and there’s always pent-up demand for new golf clubs,” says director of golf Dave Christenson. “The fact we’re continuing to increase the number of rounds played and merchandise sales means players are returning and bringing us new players via their word-of-mouth recommendations. That is particularly gratifying.”

Merchandise sales were up 40 percent over projections in July and year-to-date have exceeded projections by 41 percent. This is not surprising given the golf shop and Christenson were nominated as, and are being considered for, “Merchandiser of the Year” national honors by the PGA of America after they were named “Merchandiser of the Year” in the Northwest PGA Section.

These numbers continue a trend established last year, Circling Raven’s first full season, when it finished above projections in all categories.

Golf, Golf Digest, Golfweek and Zagat Survey all bestowed “best-of” honors on Circling Raven in the past 12 months and golf course architect Gene Bates was recently named “Architect of the Year” by The BoardRoom Magazine in part for his success at Circling Raven.

Circling Raven’s peak playing fee is $79 with GPS-equipped cart, while other nearby courses have a wide disparity of prices and experiences.
