Charlton predicts a leaner golf industry

The outgoing president of The American Society of Golf Course Architects says the industry is learning from its mistakes.

Bruce Charlton, the outgoing president of The American Society of Golf Course Architects, shared his thoughts on the future of the golf industry with The Town Talk.

Among his predictions: a period of courses opening as public spaces and facilities that open as public/private partnerships.

"Golf will come out of this current period leaner and stronger," he says. "We're getting rid of fat, learning from our mistakes, and developing a clearer sense of what the golf market and the golfer need."
