After forty years as the Director of Greens and Grounds at Carmel Country Club in Charlotte, N.C., William Anderson, CGCS, announced his retirement as of the end of the year.
Anderson sent a note to Carmel members Nov. 15 with the news, including some words about the course that has served as his home during his entire career in the turf industry.
“In 1973, when my wife Catherine and I moved here, we did not expect to spend a long time in North Carolina,” he wrote. “Many of you may have had similar experiences in your own careers. However, like the city of Charlotte itself, Carmel has always been focused on growth and the pursuit of excellence. By offering me constant challenges and the rewards of helping create an exceptional golf facility, Carmel Country Club became my second home for all these years. I believe that together we have accomplished a great deal.”
