Lessons learned

Superintendents get the most out of Monday with brand-new seminars.

Superintendents sat in on seminars this week to pick up new tools to tackle the job. Here’s what some of you had to say about this week’s education.

“I’m taking the fertilizer and foliar program course. I just want to know the new trends in using those, and see what’s new with them. Are they going more foliar or more traditional? We try to mix it up a little, but I’m just trying to look at things and see what everyone else is doing.”

“I’m taking Beyond Traditional Fertility. I’m on a pretty heavy fertilizer regiment every day. But I want to take my knowledge a little further, see if I’m just doing what my boss is telling me or if it’s actually working.”

Tim Lowe
The Reserve GC
Pawleys Island, S.C.

“I’m checking out the weed management course. It’s something that’s always changing, so it’s good to know. I’m also doing the nematode seminar. I’ve got some nematodes that just showed up on the course and I just need some more knowledge to help me deal with them.”

Jonathan Birkett
North River Club
Beaufort, N.C.

“I’m going to Understanding Fungicides. I’ve been coming for several years, and it seems like a good selection for a Monday. I’m looking for new fungicides that are out on the market and to see how they work. Tuesday I’m going to the Holy Grail seminar just to see that round table discussion.”
