Camp Creek completes enhancements

Camp Creek Golf Club completed a major bunker enhancement project as part of its move toward privatization later in the year.

Seagrove Beach, Fla. - Camp Creek Golf Club - the award-winning Tom Fazio design developed by St. Joe - completed a major bunker enhancement project as part of its move toward privatization later in the year.

All 60 bunkers were upgraded with alabaster-white sand from nearby Red Bay Sand Company. The PGA Tour-grade material provides a consistent, firm texture. Bunker liners were also installed on severe slopes to hold sand in place, prevent erosion and reduce the number of balls plugged in the bunker walls.

"This project elevates the quality of the bunkers at Camp Creek to a PGA Tour-caliber level found at many of the best private courses in the United States," says Will Hopkins, general manager at Camp Creek. "We are excited to offer these enhanced conditions to our regular customers, first-time golfers and prospective members."

The transition from public to private play will occur over the summer of 2006, with restricted play for members and Joe resort guests to begin Labor Day 2006. Under the privatization plan, play at Camp Creek would be limited to club members and their guests, guests of the WaterColor Inn and guests staying at Joe rental management properties.

Memberships in the club are expected to be available for purchase in June of 2006 and will be available only to those owning property in designated Joe towns and communities in the area, including nearby WaterColor and WaterSound Beach. The cost of membership has yet to be established.
