California superintendent receives Agrotain “Artistry of Golf” painting

The supplier of StabilizedNitrogen products announced the recipient of “Southern Haven,” the third painting in a series of commissioned paintings paying tribute to golf course superintendents.

Agrotain International, supplier of patented StabilizedNitrogen products, announced the recipient of “Southern Haven,” the third painting in the “Artistry of Golf” collection, a series of commissioned paintings paying tribute to the hard work and dedication of golf course superintendents worldwide.

Agrotain presented the painting to Steve Scarborough, CGCS, superintendent at Bakersfield Country Club in Bakersfield, Calif. Scarbrough entered the drawing at the 2007 Golf Industry Show in Anaheim, Calif.

“I’m honored to have won this amazing painting,” Scarbrough says. “It really captures the beauty of the course and reminds me why I worked to become a superintendent.”

In addition to the original framed oil painting, Agrotain awarded a framed, signed and numbered artist print to Ken Mangum, superintendent at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Atlanta. Commemorative posters were also given to every superintendent who stopped by Agrotain’s booth at GIS.

The painting, which showcases the sixteenth hole of the Riverside Course at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Atlanta, is the work of Sandra Cashman Schmieder.
