Buffalo Turbine is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. The year-long celebration will begin at Booth #2644 at the GCSAA Conference and Trade Show in San Diego, Feb. 3-6.
Bob Knolls founded Buffalo Turbine in 1945. The company helped the spraying industry evolve with its first turbine blower, designed for better chemical application. It has since expanded its products, creating powerful turbine equipment used for dust control, mosquito and vector management, and debris cleanup.
Current owners Louis and Karl Horschel acquired Buffalo Turbine in 1989. The company introduced its first turbine blower for debris management in 1996; its first stand-on turbine debris blower followed in 2023 and its first such battery-powered device in 2024.
Its three core principles for much of the last eight decades have been safe and easy operation, maximum uptime by engineering products to be very robust, and simple, low-maintenance design.
“Buffalo Turbine is based in rural Springville, New York. My partner, Karl Horschel, and I still farm and operate equipment ourselves,” Louis Horschel said. “We know what’s important. Our goal is to build the highest-quality equipment while still being cost effective.”
The company will feature special anniversary badges on its machines throughout 2025.
