Greensboro, N.C. – Matthew Brecht, Ph.D., has joined the turf and ornamental team at Syngenta Professional Products as a sales representative. Brecht will represent Syngenta products, technologies and services at The Experience at FarmLinks, a research-and-demonstration golf facility in Sylacauga, Ala., and also serve Syngenta customers in Birmingham.
Brecht has a doctorate and a master’s degree in plant pathology from the University of Florida, and a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in French from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He has conducted research into numerous topics facing turfgrass managers, including the effects of the fungi Bipolaris and Curvularia on ultradwarf Bermudagrasses; and the influence of fertilization with silicon on gray leaf spot in St. Augustinegrass. He has experience with several different species of warm and cool-season turfgrasses.
“I am excited to join the Syngenta turf and ornamental team, and also to be a part of The Experience at FarmLinks,” Brecht says. “FarmLinks presents an excellent opportunity to inform golf course superintendents about the knowledge and value inherent in Syngenta.”
