Powell Butte, Ore. – Brasada Ranch, a new 1,800-acre resort community located in Central Oregon, will include the Peter Jacobsen/Jim Hardy-designed Brasada Canyons Golf Course, currently under construction.
A total of 900 residences will ultimately comprise Brasada Ranch, to include single-family and cabin-style homes.
The Community Discovery Center, Brasada Ranch’s on-site sales office, is the first completed structure at Brasada Ranch, which is a joint project by Jeld-Wen and Eagle Crest. Jeld-Wen has a long history of supporting golf, including its title sponsorship of the Jeld-Wen Tradition, a major on the Champions Tour.
Formerly a working cattle ranch, Brasada Ranch sits 3,500 feet above sea level with an elevation gain of 600 feet on the western slope of the Cascades, presenting residents and golfers with mountain views of Mt. Jefferson, Three Sisters, Broken Top and Mt. Bachelor, as well as a 360-degree vista of the valley floor.
The resort’s signature recreation amenity will be Brasada Canyons Golf Course, a private, championship 18-hole layout designed on 200 acres by Jacobsen and Hardy. The back nine will open summer 2006, while the full 18 holes will be in operation by the fall 2006.
Brasada Canyons – a year-round facility featuring 11 holes enveloped in dramatic canyons – marks the first course design in Central Oregon for Jacobsen, a native of the state.
“We’ve never seen a property quite like this one,” Jacobsen says. “The canyons here presented us a tremendous opportunity for invention. We’ve routed several holes down in the canyons, while other holes play across the tops and along the edges. Also, the site has an old trestle bridge coming off the 18th hole. We’ll be using this elevated structure to bring golf carts back to the clubhouse. It used to be an aqueduct and we’re retrofitting it. The club’s entry drive will pass right underneath the trestle, actually. It’s a spectacular feature.”
The par-72, 7,328-yard layout will feature five tee settings.
Tennis courts, swimming pools and numerous hiking, biking and running trails also will be part of the resort’s recreation landscape.
