Bobby Weed Golf Design selected for New Jersey project

Work at Greenacres Country Club will address issues caused by aging.

Bobby Weed Golf Design has been selected to orchestrate a project at Greenacres Country Club in Lawrenceville, N.J. The plan will include renovating the golf course and repurposing a portion of the acreage for residential use.

“Greenacres is a club with a distinguished history. Given our expertise in repurposing, we are pleased to have been chosen for this innovative project,” said Bobby Weed, President & CEO of Bobby Weed Golf Design. “The renovation of this classic parkland course will renew its beauty, enhance its playability and preserve its long-term future.”

Established in 1938, Greenacres is a private full-service club featuring an 18-hole golf course, originally designed by Devereaux Emmet and redesigned by George Fazio, in 1971.

Chris Monti, senior design associate at Bobby Weed Golf Design, explained the challenges: “The golf course at Greenacres is showing typical effects of age, such as turfgrass, irrigation and drainage issues, too many trees and general infrastructure decline.”

Bobby Weed Golf Design will plan and implement a complete makeover and a comprehensive upgrade of the layout’s look, playability and infrastructure. The project is designed to ensure that the golf course and club remain viable for decades to come without burdening the membership financially.

Initial work already completed consists of identifying the new land plan, which includes the revised golf course routing and the location and size of the development parcel. Bobby Weed Golf Design is engaged in more detailed planning for the golf course portion of the project, developing strategies, budgets and schedules.
