Atlanta-based national club management firm Mosaic Clubs is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Conley as general manager and Kyle Macdonald as superintendent of the new Bobby Jones Golf Course. With more than 35 years of combined experience in the golf and club business industry, Conley and Macdonald bring a wealth of knowledge to the Bobby Jones team.
An alumnus of the University of Georgia armed with a bachelor of business administration, Conley brings equal levels of business acumen and sporting talent to his role as general manager and director of golf at Bobby Jones Golf Course. Throughout his more than 20 years in the golf and club business industry, Conley has played an integral role at some of Georgia’s most prestigious golf clubs. Conley’s dedication to golf has earned him an appointment as an officer of the executive board for the Georgia Section of the Professional Golf Association of America. Listed among his professional affiliations and accolades is Conley’s standing as a Class “A” PGA Member, recognition as “Professional of the Year” by the North Georgia Chapter PGA, status as a recipient of the President’s Award from the Georgia Section PGA and recognition as “Merchandiser of the Year” in the Resorts division by the Georgia Section PGA.
“I am thrilled to serve as the Bobby Jones general manager and look forward to contributing to the redevelopment of the club,” Conley said. “My previous positions as Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf have prepared me to take the lead on reintroducing the new Bobby Jones to the Atlanta community.”
Recent Mosaic appointments also include the addition of Macdonald as golf course superintendent for Bobby Jones. Macdonald graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor of science in agronomy and soils as well as turfgrass management. Macdonald comes to Bobby Jones, with more than 15 years of experience. From 2003-2009, Macdonald served as the assistant golf course superintendent at Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground, Ga. Macdonald also worked for more than eight years as the golf course superintendent at St Ives Country Club in Johns Creek, Ga. Macdonald’s professional affiliations include serving on the board of directors for the Georgia Golf Course Superintendents Association from 2011-2017.
“It is an honor to serve as the superintendent for Bobby Jones,” Macdonald said. “I am excited to join this amazing community effort to make the historic Bobby Jones Golf Course a great experience once again.”
Bobby Jones Golf Course opened as Atlanta’s first public golf course in 1932. In recent years the Bobby Jones Golf Course Foundation, Inc. was formed by a group of citizens passionate about the historic golf course. The Foundation raised more than $23 million to support a redevelopment project aimed at creating an extraordinary golf experience and enhancing the course’s involvement with the local Atlanta community. The new Bobby Jones Golf Course is scheduled to open in fall 2018. Bobby Jones is managed by Mosaic Clubs, based in Alpharetta, Ga.
