Billy Casper Golf ("BCG") is making its Dallas-Fort Worth debut by assuming operations of Bear Creek Golf Club and already the firm is making a number of enhancements to service levels and course conditions.
Tony Cianci, a BCG veteran and Regional Vice-President, has relocated to the area and will be based at Bear Creek. Cianci has overseen the management of courses in major markets all over the United States including Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
BCG has also brought in one of its most talented General Managers to operate Bear Creek on a day-to-day basis. Nick Bednar comes to the facility from the Cook County golf system in Illinois - one of the nation's largest networks of courses. Roger McDuffa has come on board as Bear Creek's new superintendent and he is already making great strides to enhance course maintenance.
"Billy Casper Golf is thrilled to enter the Dallas-Fort Worth market with a course as outstanding as Bear Creek," Cianci says. "Golfers are seeing first-hand the terrific customer service, facility upgrades and outstanding conditions BCG offers at the courses the company operates."
In addition to bringing in new staff talent to work with the existing staff of motivated professionals, BCG is planning an array of capital investments to enhance everything from course conditions to food and beverage operations and offerings to clubhouse and infrastructure projects. A hallmark of a BCG-run course is stellar customer service geared to making the golf experience as enjoyable as possible. From knowledgeable and well-trained staff to manicured fairways and greens to enhanced menu and post-round offerings, BCG never rests on its laurels when striving to better the customer experience.
Bear Creek has been named among the "Top 50 Resort Courses in America" by Golf Digest and one of the "10 Great Places to Golf" by The Wall Street Journal. Proof of the challenge, allure, and shot values found on the two distinct layouts - the West and East Courses - Bear Creek has hosted PGA TOUR Qualifying events, the Texas State Open, the AJGA National Tournament, the PGA National Golf Series, and North Texas PGA Sectional Tournaments.
With its convenient location to DFW International, it is also an ideal venue for golf outings and corporate events of any size. In the past three consecutive years, a regional publication named Bear Creek "Best Place to Host a Corporate Event."
BCG is also revamping the facility's restaurant, which includes upgrades to the menu and a name change to The Grill at Bear Creek. Providing a more casual ambience and feel, The Grill at Bear Creek will offer Texas favorites, an array of entrees and a welcoming environment for relaxing after an enjoyable day on the links.
With two classic Ted Robinson-designed layouts, Bear Creek features mature conditions including stately oak trees, rolling North Texas terrain and manicured fairways, tees and greens. The facility also boasts an ample practice area that has both grass and matted hitting areas, two chipping greens and putting surfaces.
With comparable slope ratings of 127 and 130, respectively, the East and West courses are par-72 championship routings. Both courses measure 6,700 yards from the back tees.
