Research Triangle Park, N.C. – BASF Corporation announced that Michael Rohwer, golf course superintendent at Shadowridge Country Club in Murrieta, Calif., is the March winner of its 2005 calendar sweepstakes. After correctly answering a quiz question from a calendar created by BASF, Rohwer was randomly selected as the Bass Pro Shops $1,000 gift card winner.
Rohwer is a GCSA certified golf course superintendent with more than 20 years of experience in the industry and has spent the past 6 years at Shadowridge.
In addition to the 12 monthly drawings, each monthly winner is automatically entered in the end-of-year grand prize drawing for a top-of-the-line Triton bass boat.
“I’m not an avid fisherman, but I’ll certainly be able to use the certificate to help get myself and my son, who is interested in fishing, set up to try our luck,” says Rohwer. “If I win the boat, fishing could become a new hobby for us.”
Steve McMillan, golf course superintendent at Abilene Country Club in Abilene, Texas, was the February winner of the sweepstakes.
McMillan is a GCSAA certified golf course superintendent who has spent his entire 12 years in the profession at Abilene Country Club.
While he is dedicated to maintaining his course in the best playing condition possible, one of McMillan’s passions when he is not tending to the course is fishing.
“I normally don’t enter these types of contests, but when I saw the BASF calendar in the mail, I started reading through it and thought – what the heck, I’ll give it a try.” McMillan says. “I really appreciate the gift card as I have a fishing trip planned for the family during the first week in May and will stay near the Bass Pro Shop in the Dallas area – the timing couldn’t be better.”
Each month in 2005, one lucky person who participates in that month’s online quiz will be selected as a $1,000 gift card winner.
The giveaway is part of a promotion sponsored by BASF Professional Turf and Ornamentals specifically for golf course superintendents and authorized BASF distributor sales representatives.
“BASF recognizes the professional dedication and hard work of superintendents as well as the distributor sales representatives who recommend our products and educate our clients across the country,” said Toni Bucci, business manager for BASF Professional Turf and Ornamentals. “This sweepstakes is designed to thank them.”
