Check out this issue’s top golf communicators on Twitter.

To get the most out of social media, it’s important to follow the right people. We’re bringing you some of our favorite professionals from different areas of the golf industry who share great information and provide top-notch resources. We’re starting out with the winners of this year’s GCI Super Social Media Awards, who were recognized at the 2013 Golf Industry Show.

Bill Brown @iturfapps

Bill Brown is part of the team behind iTurf Apps and other tech talk for the superintendent set. He’s always finding new ways to connect golf to technology, including in his new project at Turf Republic and kicking off his column with GCI. This year, Bill received our Kaminski Award for Social Media Leadership.

Chris Tritabaugh @ct_turf

Chris Tritabaugh is part of the Lighter Side of Turf team, a group who covers real agronomy issues in a crowd discussion on Twitter but who also knows how to make a joke when the turf doesn’t look quite right. Chris covers course conditions and also talks about work/life balance, a major struggle for some superintendents.

Matt Gourlay @mattgourlaycgcs

Matt Gourlay lets his course members know about conditions with frequent updates, but he also reports on the most important resource for turf: water. He includes precipitation notes with his tweets, keeping members informed about how much the course really needs, including the cost of that water if it had been purchased through the city.

PACE Turf @paceturf

We may have recognized them for their Youtube videos detailing turf disease symptoms and recognition, but Dr. Larry Stowell and Dr. Wendy Gelernter’s Twitter feed provides even more information about turf disease as well as resources like Turfchat.
