Bankrupt Va. course seeks funding

The Virginia National Golf Club has retained Equity Partners, with approval of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, to find sources of refinancing, additional equity, or to sell Virginia National Golf Club, a Jerry Matthews designed 18-hole golf course in Bluemont, Va.

Virginia National Golf Club is located between the Shenandoah River and the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Virginia National is heralded as one of the most picturesque golf courses in America with seven holes set upon the Shenandoah River providing over three miles of unobstructed river vistas.  Part of civil war history, the property encompasses the site where the Battle of Cool Spring was waged in 1864.

Virginia National Golf Club is a 6,800 yard Par 72 course with L-93 bentgrass fairways and greens.  The property includes a practice facility with two tier natural grass driving range; Club House with pro-shop, bar, snack and dining facility; and a pavilion with grill and bar.  Awarded four stars out of five by Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play 2008,” Virginia National is considered "A Must Play" by Washington Golf Monthly and is recognized as an outstanding host for golf outings in the Washington Metropolitan area.

Hank Waida, a partner at EPI, says that “This is an excellent opportunity to partner, invest in or acquire an established golf course with excellent growth potential.  The course’s unique setting and proximity just outside Leesburg, VA attracts golfers from Washington, DC, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.”
