Four associate members of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) successfully completed all requirements and were elected regular members at the group’s recent 63nd Annual Meeting in Seattle.
Attaining regular membership in ASGCA were the following:
Jeffrey Blume – Principal, Jeffrey D. Blume, Ltd., Golf Course Architects, Magnolia, Texas. Blume’s recent work includes Grand Pines Golf Club at Bentwater, Montgomery, Texas and Golfcrest Country Club, Pearland, Texas.
Lester George – George Golf Design, Inc., Richmond, Va. George’s recent work includes Willow Oaks Country Club, Richmond, Va. and Rock Manor Golf Course, Wilmington, Del.
Jeffrey Lucovsky – Vice President, Mark McCumber & Associates, Golf Course Design, Jacksonville, Fla. Lucovsky’s recent work includes Tumble Brook Country Club, Bloomfield, Conn. and Great Oaks Country Club, Rochester, Mich.
Gary Stephenson—Principal, Gary Stephenson Design, Celina, Texas. Stephenson’s recent work includes the Torrance Course at the Fairmont, St. Andrews, Scotland and Sun City Peachtree, Griffin, Ga.
Associate members of ASGCA have each designed at least five 18-hole golf courses and have practiced golf course architecture for a minimum of eight years, though the average member has more than 20 years experience and dozens of golf courses to his or her credit. Regular membership in ASGCA is earned after a member has been an associate member in good standing for at least three years and has designed or remodeled and seen through to opening two additional 18-hole golf courses.
