Arysta LifeScience North America turf and ornamental products has announced development plans for new use labels, formulations, and product line extensions, including premixes, for Disarm fungicide. Disarm is a strobilurin fungicide for control of all major spot, patch and mold diseases in golf course, lawn care, sports turf management, and sod production, and is the only strobilurin labeled for control of light-to-moderate infestations of dollar spot.
Plans are underway for development and anticipated approval later this year of a premixture of fluoxastrobin, the active ingredient in Disarm, with chlorothalonil, which will be the only strobilurin and chlorothalonil premix available for golf turf use. In addition, Arysta LifeScience anticipates approval of a landscape and production ornamental use label for Disarm, as well as a new Disarm 0.25% G granular formulation, for lawn and landscape application and use.
“Consistent performance reported on leading golf courses over the last two years has confirmed that Disarm provides unsurpassed overall disease control, equal to or better than competitive strobilurins, and does it at a more affordable cost per acre,” according to Michael Maravich, turf and ornamentals product manager, Arysta LifeScience. “That’s why we are developing new Disarm formulations and premixes to provide turf management professionals a complete product line as the cornerstone for their disease management programs,” adds Maravich.
Further downstream in 2009, Arysta LifeScience is also planning development of additional Disarm premixes with fungicides having different modes of activity, as well as additional active ingredient components to the fluoxastrobin and chlorothalonil premixture.
“Coupled with the exceptionally rapid systemic activity, quick rainfastness, and long residual disease control of Disarm, these impending label, formulation and premix developments will considerably broaden the disease management activity Disarm has successfully demonstrated in widespread 2007 and 2008 use,” indicates Dr. Doug Houseworth, T&O technical service manager for Arysta LifeScience.
“The planned expansion of the Disarm product line will provide a significant disease management system for golf course superintendents and lawn turf managers seeking the highest performance and maximum value,” says Steven Dal Sasso, turf and ornamentals business manager, Arysta LifeScience.
