Research is the backbone

Three takeaways from AQUA-AID Solutions’ 2025 Turf Technology Showcase presentation.

The AQUA-AID Solutions team opened our third annual Turf Technology Showcase with half an hour packed with information about some of their recent research and trials. Here are three things we learned from President Sam Green, technical manager and marketing director Bill Brown, and research and development director Matt Martin

1. Research and testing are the backbone for any reputable company. “We do these types of trials,” Brown said, refencing recent tests for Excalibur soil surfactant and PBS150 multi-branch hydrating surfactant, “to ensure that when we tell you the product’s going to work and what it’s going to do, it will indeed do that.”

2. And while research is important, the products still have to work for the folks actually using them. “We have to have the confidence not only with research trials at universities that we work with,” Martin said. “We have to work with end users and have the confidence to put them out on large acreage.”

3. Also, there’s always a goal, but you must follow the journey of research and development. “When we start projects, we really don’t have the answer at the end,” Martin said. “We’re always asking ourselves questions as we go through, and quite often we find other ways we may not have started with.”
