Ricardo Baron is the new golf course superintendent at Al Zorah Golf Club in Ajman, United Arab Emirates. Baron will manage and oversee the agronomic maintenance of the par-72 Nicklaus Design course.
Born in Seville, Spain, Baron studied agronomy and turf management before going onto work at Quail Hollow in the Charlotte, North Carolina, and Valderrama in Spain. With this experience under his belt, Baron made the move to the Middle East, taking a role at The Els Club Dubai in the UAE.
“Throughout my career, I have worked in environments which focus on the smallest of details and that was a reason for being attracted to the role at Al Zorah as they have a clear goal to implement the highest of standards,” Baron said. “I would like to thank the team at Al Zorah and Troon for giving me this incredible opportunity to continue growing in my professional career.”
Al Zorah Golf Club is set among a naturally-preserved environment of native sandy areas, lakes and about 250 acres of mangroves. Baron will oversee a golf course that exposes players to a unique tidal system that changes the proposition of several holes depending on whether they’re played in the morning or afternoon.
“It is incredible to have such a young, fresh, and talented new member join our dynamic team,” Al Zorah GM Phil Henderson said. “We have many exciting projects to undertake and we believe that Ricardo’s talent, enthusiasm, and fresh ideas will be invaluable for us.”
