“Golf course management requires a creativity and ingenuity that often goes unrecognized,” says Alan Nees, vice president of turf and ornamental sales at AGROTAIN International. “This series is our way of recognizing professionals who combine the best of science and intuition to successfully practice their art.”
The third painting in the annual series, entitled “Southern Haven,” showcases the sixteenth hole of the Riverside Course at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Atlanta. The course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., was redesigned in 2003 by his son, Rees Jones. The redesign increased functionality while highlighting more natural design elements, all are hallmarks of Rees Jones’ design style.
The painting – the work of artist Sandra Cashman Schmieder – features the hole’s hidden green, framed by blooming Crepe Myrtles and majestic pines, and captures the contrast of the course’s grasses, plants and trees.
Superintendents who visit AGROTAIN International at booth 1141 during the Golf Industry Show and take the “Stabilized Nitrogen Challenge” will automatically receive a commemorative poster featuring the artwork. Participants can also register to win one of 50 signed and numbered limited edition prints suitable for framing, as well as the grand prize – the original framed oil painting.
