Absorbent Technologies (ATI) announced that Peter Berghsey Johnsen, Ph.D., currently provost and vice-president for Academic Affairs at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., has become a member of the company’s board of directors.
Previously, Johnsen was research leader at the USDA Southern Regional Research Center in New Orleans, then director of the USDA National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR) in Peoria. At NCAUR Johnsen directed the research team that developed the specific technology behind Zeba. Later, that team collaborated with ATI’s founder and c.e.o., Milan Savich, to develop a viable commercial product out of the research on superabsorbents conducted at the center. Zeba brand superabsorbent soil amendment is the result of that collaboration.
“Peter is in a unique position to help us capitalize on the core technology that resulted in our premier product, Zeba, for agriculture, turf, and nursery/greenhouse production,” Savich says. “Researchers at USDA have expressed gratification that this technology resulting from their research was being commercialized so that its benefits to growers worldwide would be realized."
“We are particularly pleased that someone with Peter’s standing in the scientific community and broad understanding of and global vision for superabsorbent technology is joining our board,” Savich says. “We look forward to his guidance.”
