Turfmaker is a landscape supply company serving golf courses, sports fields, schools, retail nurseries, and sod farms from San Diego to Los Angeles and Palm Desert out of their Chula Vista, Calif., warehouse since 2004. Harrell’s has been serving the horticulture market in California and the Pacific Northwest with POLYON controlled-release fertilizer, liquid nutritionals, soil wetting agents, and other agronomic products for nearly two years. Harrell’s exceptional customer service and quality products, including POLYON fertilizer, will now be available to turf customers in southern California.
Turfmaker former owner Nick Spardy and Harrell’s President Dave Schermerhorn have been business associates and friends for over 20 years. “Nick brings a great deal of experience, knowledge and integrity,” Schermerhorn said. “Turfmaker is a great asset to Harrell’s. Their business model is a good fit for our core values.”
The acquisition brings a trio of seasoned sales representatives onto the Harrell’s sales force which has now grown to over 110 strong in the golf, horticulture, turf & landscape and specialty ag markets. Nick Spardy, George Peterson, and Bruce Wheeler will continue to serve Turfmaker customers in the area. Their combined 80 years of experience backed by the Harrell’s operations and business teams generates a new level of quality and customer support to Turfmaker customers.
