Floratine has announced Volatex, the company’s new urease inhibitor, is available from distributors as of June 6.
Volatex is a dry, soluble additive for enhancing any urea or UAN fertilizer solution to prevent nitrogen loss and extend fertilizer availability for turf uptake.
Turfgrass managers can use Volatex to deliver the same rapid green-up as standard urea or UAN. In addition, they now have the ability to prevent loss while managing applications using reduced rates – saving time and expense.
Floratine accomplishes this with Volatex, which keeps the nitrogen available longer. It contains a nitrogen stabilizing urease inhibitor plus a nitrification inhibitor and is designed to protect nitrogen against the three primary forms of loss: volatilization, denitrification and leaching.
Volatex inhibits the urease enzyme, slowing the conversion of urea to ammonium, providing proven protection against nitrogen loss through volatilization. It also keeps the nitrogen in the ammonium form longer, so the nutrient remains in a positive form and bonds to the negatively charged soil particles. The risk of leaching is reduced because now the nitrogen is kept in the turf’s root zone – and available for uptake.
