Troon will manage The Standard Club, a private club located in Johns Creek, Ga., in the northern Atlanta suburbs. The company's private club operations division, Troon Privé, will manage the historic club.

The Standard Club was founded in 1867 with an historic social club heritage in downtown Atlanta before relocating in 1987 to its current address north of the city in Johns Creek. The full-service country club is located on more than 300 acres of Audubon-designated natural habitat. Its 18-hole course was originally designed by Arthur Hills and opened for member play in 1987, and architect Mike Riley redesigned the course in 2005. It regularly ranks among the top courses in the state.

“The Standard Club has a rich and storied history in Atlanta,” Troon vice president of operations Michael Ryan said. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to enhance an already spectacular club through Troon levels of service and proven agronomy practices, while embracing the traditions already in place at The Standard Club.”

In addition to golf, the 125,000 square-foot clubhouse includes both formal and casual dining rooms, a private dining room, a banquet ballroom and patio dining overlooking the course, along with a variety of other athletic facilities. Troon, meanwhile, now manages 470 18-hole equivalent courses around the world at more than 430 locations, including properties in 45 states and 33 countries.

“Partnering with Troon is a natural step in our evolution as a private club of distinction in Atlanta,” Standard Club president Mark Elgart said. “Troon’s extensive expertise and proven record of success will enable The Standard Club to extend its historic legacy for future generations of families to enjoy.”
