Solar LED Tree Lighting
The Torre Maizza Golf Club, part of the Masseria Torre Maizza Hotel in the Puglia Region of southern Italy, is a 9-hole par-3 course measuring 1,165 yards (1,065 meters), and they light up strategic trees on the golf course for resort guests to enjoy. Solar panels hidden from view, with built-in batteries, supply ample electricity to the LED lighting. The two olive trees pictured are reportedly about 100 years old and are part of the Puglia Region (located at the heel of Italy’s boot), which supplies more than 50 percent of the olive oil produced in the country. The solar panels and LED lightning cost about $225 (200 euros) per tree and the labor time was less than two hours per tree. The head greenkeeper recently retired and the club is going through the interview process. The golf course architect is unknown.

Irrigation Lake Liner Coverings
Because of porous soil conditions, the lakes have durable plastic liners at the Torre Maizza Golf Club, located at the Masseria Torre Maizza Hotel in the Puglia Region in southwest Italy. The lake liners require they be exposed because of the steep slopes and fluctuating water levels in this irrigation lake, so the club is in the process of installing synthetic turf panels — for aesthetic appeal and also to protect them from damaging sunlight. Each panel costs approximately $169 (150 euros). They are held in place at the top of each panel with large, galvanized staples. It takes less than 60 minutes to install each one.
