Removable Hose Reel

This Coxreels Model 1125 Series Hand-Crank Hose Reel at the 36-hole Oaks Club in Osprey, Florida, holds a 100-foot-long Underhill UltraMax Green ¾-inch High-Pressure Hose for hand watering greens or other areas with ease. A Reese Class III 2-inch receiver is welded to the bottom of the hose reel using a 2-inch angle iron base and a ¼-inch flat base plate, and the hitch is welded to the front of the headlight guard/bumper on the ClubCar 502 Turf Utility Vehicle. Simply pull the hitch pin, slide off the receiver from the hitch and the hose reel can be removed in seconds. Parts cost about $150 and it took less than 1½ hours to build. Gregory Jack is the former director of greens and grounds, Jason Ziegler is the equipment manager and Josh Postolese is the Heron Course superintendent. Jason Straka designed the Heron Course, and Arthur Hills, Steve Forrest and Shawn Smith designed the Eagle Course.

Landscape Beds Considerations

The 36-hole Oaks Club in Osprey, Florida, also has multiple acres of decorative landscape beds covered with wood-fiber mulch. 2-inch-diameter PVC pipe with glued-on caps marks the location of gate valves, isolation valves, quick couplers, water meters, irrigation control valves, wiring splices, etc., so they can be found easily when hidden from view by the mulch. The metal catch basins have a ring of paver stones placed around them to help keep the mulch from washing into the grates restricting surface water flow during the summer rainy season. All the materials were in inventory with minimal labor time required for installation.
