A two-wheel solution?
The EPA recently approved PBI-Gordon's Union Fungicide SC. It will be available for sale in early 2020.
Testing has showed that Union is highly effective in the preventative and curative treatment of Pythium diseases — including blight, damping-off, root dysfunction and root rot — brown patch, anthracnose, cool-weather brown patch, yellow patch, fairy ring, gray leaf spot, red thread, summer patch and Rhizoctonia. It is approved for use on golf courses, residential and commercial properties, sod farms and sports fields.
A flowable liquid, Union is a formulation of the active ingredients azoxystrobin and cyazofamid. It includes dual modes of action and a proprietary combination of chemistry found in FRAC Groups 11 and 21.
Union is labeled for use on all cool-season and warm-season turfgrasses, including Kentucky bluegrass, fine fescues, tall fescue, perennial ryegrass, bentgrass, common or hybrid Bermudagrass, bahiagrass, buffalograss, centipedegrass, kikuyugrass, seashore paspalum, St. Augustinegrass and zoysiagrass. The labeled application rate range is 2.9 to 5.75 fluid ounces per 1,000 square feet and includes no temperature restrictions.
The parasitic nematode control product RightLine NEMAMECTIN 0.7 SC has two new uses.
The product can now be applied as a spot treatment on golf course greens, tees and fairways and is also newly registered for professional and collegiate sports turf applications. The expanded label, combined with flexible application rates and intervals, gives turf professionals improved versatility, budget management and environmental accountability.
“The broadened use offers the kind of convenience and flexibility our customers want,” according to RightLine turf and ornamental national sales manager Tim Zech.
Containing 0.7 pounds per gallon of the active ingredient Abamectin, NEMAMECTIN 0.7 SC is a Suspension Concentrate formulation with the ability to penetrate through the thatch layer and into the soil where nematodes thrive. In addition to its control of sting, root-knot and lance nematode species, NEMAMECTIN 0.7 SC promotes root growth and drought tolerance. It can also be used to control Bermudagrass mites and is tank mix compatible with soil-applied fungicides.
