- 1 medium onion, chopped
- Olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup water
- ¼ cup tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon allspice
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 clove minced garlic
Instructions
In a large pot cook the onion and garlic in olive oil until soft.
Add meat and spices, stir constantly to keep beef broken up.
Once the meat is cooked, add water, tomato paste, and brown sugar.
Use an immersion blender if you have one, I don’t have one and it still tastes good.
Simmer for at least 1 hour.
Then create the iconic Garbage Plate.
