The Travis Memorial Scholarships are awarded to students pursuing a career in one of the following professions: landscape design/golf course architecture, golf course turfgrass management/golf course superintendent, professional golf management, club professional or sports journalism with a special interest in golf.
During his four years at OSU, Craig has received special recognition for his outstanding academic achievement and successful leadership roles in both campus and professional organizations. He has a passion for golf course architecture that he describes as having begun when he was “nine years old and drawing pictures of golf courses.” In addition to his formal university training, Craig has taken steps to realize his passion by walking and studying golf courses, and reaching out to practicing golf course architects. He respects the history of golf course design and the works of the old masters.
“Colton has been a welcomed addition to my team and I recognize a real talent in this young man,” Davis said. “Colton has a desire to learn everything about our business and that interest and curiosity will definitely assist him with his career in golf course architecture. We congratulate him on this significant honor.”
