ASGCA Fellow Dave Bennett dies at 84

Longtime ASGCA member worked on more than 100 course projects.

Dave Bennett, a Fellow of the American Society of Golf Course Architects died Tuesday in Texas. He was age 84.

Bennett was a park administration and horticulture graduate of Texas Tech University. His professional career included more than 100 golf course projects across 14 states, Canada, Mexico and Venezuela.

Projects on which Bennett served as golf course architect and project master planner include: Lost Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas; The Hills of Prestonwood in Plano, Texas; Santa Teresa in El Paso, Texas with his consultant, Lee Trevino; The Hills in Calgary, Alberta; Applewood Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.; and his last course, The National Golf Club of Louisiana in Westlake, La.

Bennett became an ASGCA member in 1976 and achieved Fellow status in 2006. He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Rhonda; and sons, Anthony and Greg. Funeral services will be held Sunday at Hyde Park Baptist Church Chapel in Austin, Texas.
