| October 23, 2012

Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – owner and operator of more than 130 golf courses, country clubs and resorts – will again offer a comprehensive agronomy internship program designed to identify and further educate future leaders in turf-grass management.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor or graduate turf-grass management or agronomy degree program with career aspirations in golf-course maintenance.

Positions will be offered at select BCG-managed courses nationwide for the 2013 golf season.  Interns will complete tasks in 21 key areas of competency in “real world” classrooms.  In addition to scientific aspects of the profession, they will be challenged to enhance leadership, management and communication abilities, as well as acquire MBA-like business skills.

The application deadline is March 1, 2013.

“Billy Casper Golf teaches interns the business side of golf-course maintenance to augment the foundation of their university studies,” says Bryan Bielecki, Vice President of Agronomy of BCG.  “They benefit from hands-on environments and training under many of the industry’s most talented superintendents.”

Over the years, interns and entry-level turf-grass management professionals have been promoted to leadership positions across BCG’s portfolio in Illinois, Florida, California, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania, among other states.

“The knowledge gained as intern has given me the necessary experience to move forward with a career in agronomy,” says Casey Kelly, an intern in BCG’s class of 2012.  “Thanks to Billy Casper Golf for affording me a practical understanding of what it takes to succeed.”

Developed in conjunction with many of the company’s superintendents, internships mirror the guidelines of BCG’s industry-leading course standards and agronomic programming.
