The Firestone Country Club golf course maintenance team spent Wednesday, Aug. 2 polishing the South course for the Bridgestone Invitational. The event marks the 64th consecutive year a professional golf tournament has been contested at the Akron, Ohio, facility.
This year’s field includes 49th of the world’s top 50 players, but it’s the first professional event contested on the historic grounds since the death of Arnold Palmer. Firestone honored Palmer on tournament eve by naming a bridge on the 667-yard 16th hole in his honor. Palmer won three times at Firestone South.
